Panini Pete’s on TFN

As Mobile Press Register food editor David Holloway reported last week, Fairhope’s Panini Pete’s Cafe and Bake Shoppe was the focus of a segment of this week’s episode of the Food Network’s ‘Diners, Drive-ins and Dives’ hosted by Chef Guy Fieri.  In fact, it was the lead segment and proved to be quite entertaining.

As Holloway reported in his May 14th article for the MPR, Fieri and Panini Pete’s chef/owner Pete Blohme were instant friends and that camaraderie was evident on screen.  The two chefs laughed and bumped fists and celebrated the best that South Alabama’s bounty has to offer.  I also understand that Fieri and Blohme continued their escapades at the bar of the Fairhope location of Wintzell’s Oyster House.

It was nice seeing TFN finally return to the area since South Alabama, as with most Southern communities, has a tremendous culinary legacy.  Here’s to seeing more Food Network crews in town.  How about a Bobby Flay/Alec Naman bacon cheese ring Throwdown?
